About Calacatta Gold
Calacatta Gold is a honed marble mosaic in 1x4 chips on a mesh-backed sheet. It suits floors, walls and backsplashes; as natural marble it should be sealed at installation.
Questions about Calacatta Gold
How much does one sheet of Calacatta Gold cover?
Each sheet of Calacatta Gold covers 0.75 sq ft (1x4 chips on a mesh-backed sheet). The calculator above turns your square footage into whole sheets and adds 15% for cuts.
Can I use Calacatta Gold on a floor?
Yes. Calacatta Gold is rated for floors.
How many sheets of Calacatta Gold do I need for a backsplash?
Measure the width and height of the wall area in feet and multiply them for the square footage. Each sheet of Calacatta Gold covers 0.75 sq ft, so a typical 30 sq ft backsplash needs about 44 sheets including 10% for cuts. The calculator above does this for any size.
Does Calacatta Gold need sealing?
Yes. Calacatta Gold is natural marble: seal it with a penetrating sealer at installation and again when water stops beading on the surface. Sealer slows stains; it does not stop etching from acids such as lemon juice or vinegar, so wipe spills promptly.
Will Calacatta Gold look exactly like the photo?
Close, but not identical: natural marble varies in veining and tone from piece to piece. Order a sample first, buy everything you need at once so it comes from one batch, and blend pieces from several boxes as you install.
What is the minimum order for Calacatta Gold, and how does it ship?
The minimum is 77 sheets (57.8 sq ft). Each sheet weighs about 4 lb, so 39 or more sheets ship by freight on a pallet (curbside, with a liftgate, by appointment); smaller orders ship by parcel. Shipping is priced at checkout from the weight and your ZIP code.
Can I get a sample of Calacatta Gold first?
Yes. Choose Sample above: one sheet for $4.99 plus shipping. When you order the tile (orders over $300), we credit the $4.99 back.
